Instructions for Off Campus Access to Electronic Resources
The AU Central Libraries provide many kind of electronic resources including online databases, electronic journals, and electronic books through commercial licensing agreements that restrict access to resources based on the IP Address of University.
If you are on campus, access to Library electronic resources is available through computer terminals located in the Library, in all campus computing labs, and in faculty offices.
If you are off campus, access to Library electronic resources is available for three methods including Use AU Modem, Using the Username and Password and Use Virtual Public Network (VPN) Access. The detail as follow;
- Dial-up to the AU modem pool
This is the best option as you get access to all the Library electronic resources as if you were on campus. When your modem connects to the AU modem dial-up service from off-campus, your computer logs into part of the University network. You can then access electronic resources without needing to enter any login details. More Detail…
- Use the Username and Password
Some publishers allow a user to access electronic resources from off campus by using the username and password. Please contact to librarian at circulation counter service who takes
care of the Information Reader's Service Department at both of campus.
- Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) Access
VPN is a mean employed by Assumption University to enable students, faculty and staff members from off campus to access the Library's electronic resources. All you need to do is to have AU's IP address to access them. For this reason, from anywhere outside the campuses, you need to install the VPN Client, which will connect you securely to our systems, and you will be able to go to the online databases at
http://www.library.au.edu/public.html.
For more information about supported operating systems and help downloading, installing and configuring a VPN client, please go to
http://www.intranet.au.edu/announcement/online_library.htm
or please calls ONE NET CENTER at 0-2300-4543 Ext.3333
Note: If you use AU Modem, you don't need to use the VPN Client to access the Online Database, and while you are using AU Modem, you will not be able to use the VPN Client at all.
