Reference Service Our users can contact us at the Reference Desks located on every floor of the Library. These desks are for directions and reference / information. Go to the latter with questions on use of the library. Reference books and periodical indexes are located near the Reference Desks. The staff there will be happy to help you locate needed information and provide instruction in the use of the online public access catalog (OPAC), the online databases, and the CD-ROMs. Orientation tours are regularly held at the beginning of the term or arranged upon request.

Bibliographic Instruction Service Faculty members wishing the Library to organize a bibliographic instruction program for students should contact the Reference librarians.

Photocopying Serviceprovided by a private company is available in the Library. Users are responsible for complying with the Copyright Act. The Library is not responsible for any violations of copyright.

Interlibrary Loan Service The users may request items not available at ABAC Library via interlibrary loan. An interlibrary loan (ILL) is a means of borrowing materials from other libraries for use by researchers engaged in serious studies. In addition to requesting materials for faculty members, the Library may make requests for graduate students pursuing master's or doctoral programs. Charges for this service vary depending on the cost of the transaction and the policy of the lending libraries. Inquire at the Circulation Counter for this service.

Recommending New Books For Library Acquisition Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to recommend books, not yet available in the Library, for acquisition to enrich the library collection. Recommended books should be relevant to the needs of ABAC. Recommendation forms or order slips are available from the Head of Acquisitions Department. The Library also accepts recommendations marked on publishers' lists. The users recommending books for acquisition are requested to check the catalog to ensure that they're recommended titles are not those already in the library collection.

Study Areas Certain sections of some floors in the Library have been designated by signs as "Quiet Study" or "Silent Study" areas. Please show consideration for other students by not creating unnecessary noise, even if you are studying in a group.

Group Study Rooms can be used by faculty, staff, and students for a two-hour period for group study and discussions. This facility is to avoid disturbing other readers in the library. Contact the Information Desk to book the study rooms.

Online Literature Search Service in the Au Library enables users to perform their own search in selected areas free of charge. A small charge will be made for printouts if needed. These databases include SpringerLink eJournals, JSTOR (Business I and Business II), Emerald Management Xtra, Academic Search Premier, Business Source Complete, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, ACM Digital Library, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, H.W.Wilson, IEEE/IET Electronic Library (IEL), Thai Theses Abstract, Web of science, and Westlaw International.
  1. SpringerLink eJournals - This database contains the full-text for articles published in Springer. The SpringerLink Online Journal collection includes more than 1,250 peer-reviewed journals. These collection cover various fields related to Biomedical & Life Science, Business & Economics, Chemistry & Material Science, Computer Science, Earth & Environmental Science, Engineering, Humanities, Social Science & Law, Mathematics, Medicine and Physics & Astronomy.

    • Business I Collection - The forty-seven titles in the Business Collection are drawn from Arts & Sciences I, II, and IV. The collection brings together core titles in economics and finance, including many publications from the leading scholarly societies, with a range of critical research journals in accounting, labor relations, marketing, management, operations research, and risk assessment.
    • Business II Collection - This collection will feature at least fifty titles, twenty-five of which will be drawn from Arts & Sciences IV and the Arts & Sciences Complement. We are especially pleased to broaden the number of core international business titles in this collection. Business II also includes a number of journals that explore the intersections between economics and law, policy, and psychology.
  3. Emerald Management Xtra - Access more than 75,000 full text articles, 200,000 reviews from the world's leading management journals, plus case studies, literature reviews, book reviews, conference information, interviews, and profiles.
  4. Academic Search Premier - The world's largest academic multi-disciplinary database, Academic Search Premier provides full text for nearly 4,500 journals, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 titles. This database is updated on a daily basis via BSCOhost.
  5. Business Source Complete - This is the world's definitive scholarly business database, providing the ultimate collection of bibliographic and full text content. Business Source Complete contains far more active, peer-reviewed, business related journals than any other database currently available. As part of the comprehensive coverage offered by this database, indexing and abstracts for the most important scholarly business journals back to 1886 are included. In addition to the searchable cited references provided for more than 1,200 journals.
  6. CINAHL Plus with Full Text - This database provides indexing for 3,024 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health, with indexing back to 1937. CINAHL Plus with Full Text also contains searchable cited references for more than 1,160 journals and provides full text for hundreds of journals, plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials. PDF backfiles to 1937 are also included.
  7. ACM Digital Library - This database contains the full-text for articles published in ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and affiliated organizations' periodicals and proceedings since 1985, as well as bibliographic information, abstracts, and reviews for those articles. These publications cover various fields related to computing, including software, hardware, computational theory, artificial intelligence, information science, human-computer interaction, instructional technology, and the research and development communities involved in computing.
  8. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses - Doctoral dissertations and master's theses are a vital fund of scholarship for any discipline. The massive body of work available through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) represents the most comprehensive source of academic research in the world.
  9. H.W.Wilson - It is a multidisciplinary database providing full text articles from general interest magazines back to 1994.
  10. IEEE/IET Electionic Library (IEL) - This database provides access to almost a third of the world's current electrical engineering and computer science literature, featuring high-quality content from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). IEL delivers full-text access to IEEE and IEE journals, magazines, transactions and conference proceedings as well as active IEEE standards - over one million documents in all.
  11. Thai Theses Abstract - The database provides bibliographic information and abstracts in Thai and in English. Full-text searching software used for storage and retrieval is developed by Thai developers. The complete database is from 1974 to present and is available for service at TIAC Library.
  12. Web of Science - The Web of Science provides seamless access to current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,700 of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world. Web of Science also provides a unique search method, cited reference searching. With it, users can navigate forward, backward, and through the literature, searching all disciplines and time spans to uncover all the information relevant to their research. Users can also navigate to electronic full-text journal articles.
  13. Westlaw International - Westlaw is a major international online legal research tool providing full text access to case law, statutes, administrative materials, annotated reports, law reviews, current affairs, etc., from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong and many other jurisdictions around the world.
How to search for information from Online Catalogue & Journal Indexing Online Catalogue & Journal Indexing are automated or computerized records in machine readable form which users can access information via terminals. It can be retrieved instantly by access point of keywords available on WWW. The usual mode is called by means of search options. In general search users need to begin at the Menu Screen offering a choice of searching by author, title, subject, accession no. and so on.

Loan Policy

  1. The maximum number of books that can be borrowed : -
    10 volumes for faculty
    8 volumes for staff
    7 volumes for graduate students
    6 volumes for undergraduate students
    The due date is shown on the slip in the back of each book and on the borrower's library card. The numbers mentioned above do not include reports and audiovisual materials which are available for loan too.

  2. The same borrower is allowed two renewals of borrowed materials if there are no other borrowers for the same materials.

  3. If a book one wishes to borrow is not on the shelf, the status of the item may be checked at the Circulation Counter. Items already on loan may be reserved when returned, or recalled from the patron who has the item. The borrower who reserved the book will be notified when the item is available.

  4. Overdue fines for general books belonging to Graduate School is B 20 per day per book, and for reserved books is B 50 per day per book. Overdue fines will be calculated from the date due to the date when the book is returned.

  5. If the book is overdue after two weeks, the Library will send out the first claim notice. The second and the third notices will follow at two week intervals. If a borrower fails to return the books after the third notice, the Library will cancel his right to check out library materials and he will lose the privilege of holding the library card. Moreover, when he returns the book after the third notice, he will be charged for the mailing of notices in addition to overdue fines. If he fails to react after the third notice, the Library will try calling the said borrower to urge him to take prompt action in returning the books. Again if three calls are made in vain, he will be charged for the calls made in addition to fines.

  6. The responsibilities of the borrower of library materials are as follows :
    1. The borrower is responsible for any damage or loss that occurs to the borrowed materials from the date of taking them out until the date of returning them to Library. Also, the borrower is to inspect any damage to the materials before taking them out of the library.
    2. In case of damage to the borrowed materials, the borrower must pay the costs of repairing the damage.
    3. In case of loss of borrowed materials, or loss of some pages in the materials, the borrower must report and pay twice the costs of the materials. The fine must be settled immediately in order to restore borrowing privileges.

  7. Reference books, newspapers, government publications, conference proceedings, theses and dissertations, microfiches, CD-ROM databases and most periodicals are not allowed to be taken out of the library.
