AU students, staff, and young learners came together for a day of hands-on environmental learning.
Assumption University brought hands-on sustainability learning to young students at Wat Sukantawas (Kamolnavin) School on September 11, 2026, through “AU Earth Hero,” an outreach activity designed to make environmental responsibility practical, engaging, and fun.
Organized by the Central Library of Assumption University in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS), the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, and Student Affairs, the activity introduced young learners to energy conservation, responsible resource use, and everyday ways to reduce waste.
Learning the 3Rs by Doing
Students explored the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle — through interactive workshops, educational games, and team activities. A highlight was the “3R Adventure Station – Trash-Cutting Quest,” which challenged students to work together, solve problems, and connect waste-reduction ideas with choices they can make in daily life.
The program formed part of the Energy and Environmental Conservation Project for Communities Surrounding the University, an initiative that encourages young people to use energy efficiently, reduce waste, and make responsible use of natural resources.
Interactive stations turned sustainability concepts into teamwork, problem-solving, and practical action.
A Learning Space That Supports Sustainability
The Central Library also supported the school’s learning environment through landscaping, an energy conservation corner, book baskets, and educational resources. These additions gave students practical spaces and materials that can keep environmental learning visible beyond the event itself.
At the heart of AU Earth Hero was a simple message: sustainable change begins with small actions. By helping young people see how everyday choices can save energy, reduce waste, and protect resources, the program encouraged them to become environmental champions in their own homes, school, and community.
