The Collection Development Policies
Assumption University Library's collection development policy aims to support the university's teaching and learning, and research by building comprehensive collections through a process of selection and deselection. Criteria for acquisition include relevance to the curriculum, quality and accuracy, and the format best suited for user needs, while deselection is based on factors like low usage or outdated information. Faculty, students, and librarians collaborate to shape the collection, and suggestions for new materials are welcomed.

Collection Development Principles
     1. Support the university's mission: The primary goal is to build collections that support the university's current and future                       teaching and learning, and research needs.
     2. Collaboration: Librarians, faculty, and students work together to select and retain materials, with suggestions from all AU                    community’s members welcomed.
     3. Quality and accuracy: Materials are evaluated based on high standards of quality, scholarship, accuracy, and relevance to the                university's curriculum.
     4. Format selection: The choice between print and electronic formats is based on anticipated use and availability, with electronic              formats often preferred for materials expected to be used in courses.
