Caps Off to Sustainability: Small Plastic, Big Impact at AU Library
The Central Library is turning plastic bottle caps into a month-long sustainability action.
The Central Library of Assumption University of Thailand has organized a Water Cap Donation Drive throughout December 2025, inviting faculty members, students, and staff to participate in a simple yet impactful environmental initiative in support of Thai Environment Day (December 4).
Often overlooked as insignificant waste, plastic bottle caps were reimagined as valuable resources through the campaign. All donated caps were collected and sent to the Green Road Project in Lamphun Province, where they will be recycled and transformed into practical products such as educational tools, public-use furniture, and creative items that add value to discarded materials.
Beyond reducing plastic waste, the initiative promoted awareness of waste separation, responsible resource use, and the principles of the Circular Economy, reinforcing the Library’s role in supporting sustainable development and environmental responsibility across the university community.

Donation points were available throughout the month at the Cathedral of Learning Library on the Suvarnabhumi Campus and St. Gabriel’s Library on the Hua Mak Campus, making participation easy and accessible.
Through collective action and everyday choices, the Assumption University community demonstrated that meaningful sustainability efforts can begin with the smallest items, proving that even a single bottle cap can contribute to a more sustainable future.
