Beyond Books: AU Library Equips MBA Students with Research Tools for Real-World Success

On March 26, 2026, the Assumption University Library reinforced its role as a driving force in academic excellence by hosting a hands-on training workshop for Master’s students in the MBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management program. Held in the Computer Room on the 1st Floor of St. Gabriel’s Library, Hua Mak Campus, the session showed how the library continues to do far more than house resources. It actively prepares students to use them with confidence, precision, and purpose.

Organized at the request of Dr. Adarsh Batra from the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, the workshop reflected a shared commitment to helping graduate students sharpen the research and academic writing skills essential for success in advanced study.

Throughout the training, the AU Library guided students through a range of practical tools and research strategies designed to make their academic work stronger and more efficient. Students learned how to set up and use EndNote Web for reference management, explored Turnitin as a tool for maintaining academic integrity, and practiced advanced techniques for searching the AU Library’s databases in ways that aligned with their own research interests.

The session also introduced students to remote access through proxy setup, allowing them to use AU Library resources off campus, and provided guidance on how to search for, download, and organize digital materials more effectively. Participants were also introduced to the AU Institutional Repository (AU-IR), expanding their awareness of the university’s own scholarly contributions and research outputs.

What made the workshop especially valuable was its practical focus. Rather than simply presenting information, the AU Library created an interactive learning experience that allowed students to apply new skills immediately to their own academic topics. By the end of the session, participants had gained not only technical know-how, but also greater confidence in navigating the research process itself.

As higher education becomes increasingly digital and research-driven, the Assumption University Library continues to stand at the center of student support, academic innovation, and research empowerment. Workshops like this reflected the library’s ongoing commitment to helping students become more capable researchers, stronger writers, and more independent learners.

In every sense, the session was a reminder that the AU Library is not just a place to find information. It is a place where students learn how to turn information into insight.
